About Myself

David ONeillEstablished in 1986 I remain a one man operation so from initial contact through to completed woodturning it is myself you will be dealing with. In 1986 I found myself purchasing my first Woodturning copy lathe and making many turnings for the Joinery and Cabinet making trades. I have continued to do so for many years along with making my own designs. I also like to look for inspiration in all I see around me in nature architecture etc.

I have the ability to hand turn some of the smaller production runs, while larger scale jobs are completed using my copy lathe.

If a piece of wood is round, I turn it!

With more than thirty years experience behind me I feel I have a good understanding of each piece of Woodturning that I create. I feel blessed to have the ability and the skills to bring any Woodturning project to life in any piece of wood, especially native Irish wood.

Woodturning LatheSome years ago I was fortunate to come across a Wadkin RS8 woodturning lathe which I bought and fitted a hydraulic copier to and still use to this day.

All of my woodturning is carried out to my own exacting standards. I feel the quality of my work speaks for itself as can be seen in my gallery section.

Only the finest timber is sourced for my Woodturnings and only comes from companies which use renewable sources. All waste wood, including shavings, is now recycled. My Woodturning work has found its way to many places inc Eire, GB, Channel Isles, Europe and America.

I have also demonstrated in the UK mainland.

I have also found myself winning many competitions for my Woodturning. My aspiration is to continue production turning and developing and designing artistic and sculptural pieces.
